Toe Joints

For most brands, the toe skeleton can be made in three possible ways.

Type 1 — Standard Toes

This is the standard toe type for silicone dolls. These toes are made from silicone, with no wire or skeleton inside, simply freely swinging silicone toes.

Features

• Unrealistic "twitching".
• No way to set the foot's position.
• High chance of damaging the toes when putting shoes on the doll.

Type 2 — Movable Toes

This upgrade adds wire into the toes.

Features

• Increases realism, thanks to the toes being held in position.
• You can set the position of the toes.
• Doesn't affect the doll's stability. A model with standard toes and one with Movable Toes will stand the same way.
• Needs careful handling, as the wire can "tear through" the toe material.

We consider this the preferred foot type. If it's available for the brand and your budget allows, always add it when ordering.

Type 3 — Upgraded Movable Toes

This upgrade adds a fully detailed toe skeleton to the feet, following the same approach as Articulated Fingers. It's effectively an advanced version of Movable Toes.

Features

• Increases realism, thanks to the toes being held in position.
• You can set the position of the toes.
• Doesn't affect the doll's stability. A model with standard toes and one with Movable Toes will stand the same way.
• Lower risk of damaging the toes compared with Movable Toes.

We consider this the preferred foot type. If it's available for the brand and your budget allows, always add it when ordering.

How to choose

The logic here is simple. Standard Toes is the fallback option, and we don't recommend it if upgrades are available with the brand. Between Movable Toes and Upgraded Movable Toes, choose the advanced version if it's available: the price difference is usually small, and the risk of toe damage is lower. If only Movable Toes is available with the brand, that's a decent option too.

Why movable toes matter at all

A foot with fixed toes looks significantly more realistic in any pose. It's also easier and safer to put shoes on. Standard Toes often crease when putting shoes on, and this is one of the most common causes of damage.

Either way, we recommend using silicone socks, which hold the foot in place and prevent damage to the material.
