Eyes
Eye colour is a free modification available across all brands. Eyes have a big impact on a doll's look, on a par with the wig. Beyond colour, there are also a few different types of eye construction.
Type 1 — Insert Eyes
This is the standard eye type for the vast majority of brands. The eyes are hemispheres that fit into the doll's eye sockets. The direction of the gaze can be gently adjusted by pressing lightly on the eyeball with a finger.
These eyes can be removed and swapped. That's why we recommend ordering extra eyes along with your doll. It's an inexpensive addition, but it significantly improves the quality of your experience with the doll, since you can quickly change her look and get almost a new model in the process.
Type 2 — Mechanical Eyes
Some brands offer mechanical eyes for hard heads. These eyes sit on a movable mechanism, which allows the direction of the gaze to be set more precisely and more easily. This type of eye is most often fitted in a hard head or a ROS head. Availability for different head types varies by manufacturer.
Different brands use different eyeball diameters (usually between 24 and 32mm). If you want to buy extra eyes from a third-party manufacturer, always check the eye diameter of your doll first. Eyes of the wrong size will either fall out or won't fit into the socket.
Order one or two extra pairs of eyes along with your doll. Changing the eyes takes a couple of minutes, but it transforms the doll's look completely. Paired with interchangeable wigs, it's the simplest way to keep your model feeling "new".
