Toe Colour
Toenail colour is a free modification, also available across all brands.
How it works
As with the hands, the toenails are false plates glued to the nail bed. The palette usually matches the manicure palette: you'll find the exact list in the customisation section of the product page.
Toenails come unstuck more often than fingernails. The main causes are putting on shoes, socks and stockings, as well as poses where the foot presses against a surface. For TPE, the familiar factor adds to this too, the material's oil weakens the glue. There's a specific nuance for TPE feet: if your doll has Standard Toes with no wire, the toes hang loose from side to side, making the nails even more prone to coming unstuck. With the Movable Toes option, the nails hold noticeably better, since fixed toes don't bend erratically. This is another argument in favour of movable toes, which we cover in the Toe Joints section.
Don't use superglue. It reacts with TPE and damages the material, leaving whitish marks and hardened patches where it makes contact. Use only false nail glue. Before gluing, wipe the nail bed dry and remove any residual talc from it.
How to choose a colour
This is entirely down to your preference. The same practical rule applies as with the manicure: a natural colour or French pedicure is a universal base.
The only recommendation: if you order a bright manicure, match the pedicure to it. Mismatched colours on the hands and feet look unnatural and break the overall look.
Rules that will keep your nails intact
- Take off and put on shoes, socks and stockings carefully, holding the toes steady. This protects both the nails and the toes themselves.
- Don't pose the doll in ways where the toes curl under the foot and take on weight.
- Only put shoes on the doll that fit properly. Tight shoes press on the nails and lift them off, and they also leave dents in the soft foot material.
