Toe Colour

Toenail colour, like fingernail colour, is a free modification available for all brands. A pedicure is less noticeable in everyday interaction, but it matters a lot to realism enthusiasts and for full-body photography of the doll.

How it works

As with the hands, the toenails are false plates glued to the nail bed. The palette usually matches the manicure palette, though there's typically more colour choice for the fingers. Remember that each brand has its own colour list.

Toenails come unstuck more often than fingernails. The main causes are putting on shoes, socks and stockings, as well as poses where the toes press against a surface. A lifted toenail is easy to glue back on with false nail glue.

Don't use superglue. It can damage the doll's material and leave whitish marks. Use only false nail glue.

How to choose a colour

This is entirely down to your preference. If you're not sure, look at the studio photos of the doll. The brand usually picks the option that suits it best.

The only recommendation: if you order a bright manicure, match the pedicure to it. Mismatched colours on the hands and feet break the overall look.

If you put shoes on your doll regularly, remove shoes and stockings carefully, holding the toes steady. And always use silicone socks. This protects both the nails and the toes themselves, especially if your doll has the standard toe type with no internal skeleton.
