Beginner’s Guide: How to Receive Your Doll the Right Way
Why Prepare in Advance
You have chosen a doll, placed the order, paid, and started waiting for the package. We put this guide together so that your first day does not turn into "I need talc, I need cleaning supplies, I need towels."
Below is the basic kit and the order of steps for anyone buying a realistic sex doll for the first time. The section is written for beginners, but it also works as a checklist before every new order.
Delivery
A box with a full-size doll weighs 40 to 60 kg or more, and that is the main risk of day one. On top of the body weight there is the head, accessories, clothing, packaging, and protective materials. The box is long, awkward, and almost never has handles.
At Leeloo Dolls, we arrange with the courier in advance so the package is delivered right to your front door. There is no need to call friends or helpers. Everything arrives at your home.
Make Room for the Box
Clear a space in your home in advance where you will put the box. Keep in mind that it is usually dusty, so have a sheet or a piece of oilcloth ready to set the box on.
Do not lift a heavy box on your own. That can end in injury or damage to the doll before you have even unpacked her. If you need to move the box, you can lift one end and drag it along the floor.
Inspection on Arrival
In 95% of cases, orders arrive without any issues. But in rare cases, damage can happen in transit. We are always on the customer's side, and we have excellent relationships with every manufacturer, so if there is a problem, we solve it.
If you notice damage to the box, please document it with photos and video:
- heavy dents
- punctures
- water damage
- signs of tampering
- crushed corners
Do not throw away the box or the protective materials until you have fully inspected the doll.
Space for Unpacking
Clear the space in advance, as described a few steps above. Next to it, you will need room to lay the doll down and look her over.
What to prepare:
- a large bed or a soft surface set up on the floor
- a light-colored sheet
- a soft blanket
- a clear path to the bathroom
- scissors or a safety knife
If you bought a TPE doll, she may leave oil marks. So make sure you lay her on a sheet rather than directly on the bed.
Unpacking
Do not push the knife deep under the edges of the box. Parts of the doll's body may be right there.
Do not tear the protective wrapping off the arms and legs. Carefully cut the tape and remove the wrapping by hand.
How to unpack the doll:
Moving Her Safely
Even a doll weighing around 30 kg can be awkward to lift and carry because of how she is built. The material is very soft and the limbs are thin. So it is important to prepare in advance for lifting her out of the box for the first time, and to follow a few simple rules.
| Do | Don't |
|---|---|
| Spread the load across the back, hips, and legs | Lift by the fingers, hands, or feet |
| Carry her on a blanket or towel with two people | Lift by the head, neck, or hair |
| Before carrying, fold her into a "fetal position," holding her under the knees and under the chest | Drag her along the floor or pull her by a single limb |
Loose arms and legs catch on furniture and door frames, so secure them against the body before carrying.
How to lift the doll out correctly:
First Inspection
Visual Inspection
Check the doll's face and body for scuffs and tears. In 99% of cases, if the box is intact, the doll's material is undamaged.
If you notice any defects, please document them.
The following are not considered defects:
Skin. Minor surface irregularities, casting marks, or mold seams that occur naturally during production.
Fingernails and toenails. Nails can come loose in transit. They are easy to fix back in place with the included glue.
Eyelashes. Eyelashes can come off during delivery. They can be reattached with regular eyelash glue.
You can read more about everything related to defect compensation on this page.
Checking the Joints
Once you have checked the doll's material, check the joints. If a joint does not move with moderate effort, do not force it. Movement can be restricted by:
- excessive factory tightening
- foam inside the body
- the skeleton design
- the wrong position of a neighboring joint
Sudden force can damage the frame or the material. First check the position of the neighboring joints, then try smoothly and with small movements.
Basic Care Kit
Everything on this list is best bought before the doll arrives: the first wash happens right after unpacking.
| Item | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Mild, neutral soap | Washing the surface and the canals |
| Several light-colored towels | Drying, padding when carrying |
| Douche or flushing device (a basic douche is included) | Flushing the internal canals |
| Drying sticks or tampons | Drying the canals by hand |
| Disposable gloves (cloth gloves are included) | Hygiene during washing and treatment |
| Cotton swabs and pads | Spot cleaning, testing products |
| Light-colored, non-dyeing cloth | Wiping down, storage without dye transfer |
| Talc powder | Treating the surface after drying |
| A clean container for water | Washing away from the bathroom |
| An absorbent towel | Washing small areas of the body |
For TPE, powdering after washing and complete drying is mandatory. Soft silicone can sometimes become tacky after the first wash. In that case, talc is also worth applying.
Read more about silicone and TPE in this guide.
Oil for TPE
Clear baby mineral oil (Johnson's Baby, for example) can be part of a TPE doll owner's kit for spot cleaning. For silicone, it is off limits.
When it helps
- heavy stains
- sticky marks
- isolated cosmetic spots
- some glue residue
How to apply it
- Test on a hidden area.
- Apply a small amount to a white tissue or cotton pad.
- Gently work on the stain without hard rubbing.
- Remove any leftover oil.
- If needed, wash the area with mild soap.
- Once fully dry, apply powder.
Limitations
Oil can damage the factory paint on the lips, nipples, and other painted areas. Do not pour it into the internal canals, and do not treat the whole doll regularly unless there is a reason to.
For silicone dolls, regular baby oil, mineral oil, and massage oil must not be used.
First Wash and Drying
Right after unpacking, the surface and the internal canals get their first wash. The main rule: the doll must be completely dry before she is dressed or put away for storage.
After washing
- Remove most of the water.
- Dry the internal cavities completely.
- Make sure no water has gotten inside the head or the frame.
- Let the surface dry.
- Apply talc if needed.
What to dry the internal canals with
- soft tampons
- absorbent cloth
- small sponges
- drying sticks
- a doll dryer
Where not to leave a damp doll
- in a closet
- in a bag
- in tight clothing
- under a blanket
- in a poorly ventilated spot
Moisture in an enclosed space leads to odor, mold, and material damage.
Common Beginner Mistakes
Almost every problem in the first few days comes from rushing.
| Stage | Mistake |
|---|---|
| Delivery | Trying to lift the box alone |
| Unpacking | Throwing away the packaging before the inspection is done |
| Moving | Carrying the doll by the arms, neck, or head |
| Moving | Standing a heavy doll on her feet without external support |
| Inspection | Forcing stiff joints |
| Inspection | Stretching the soft material hard |
| Care | Using harsh chemicals |
| Care | Using mineral oil on silicone |
| Drying | Closing up the internal cavities before they are fully dry |
| Storage | Leaving her in dark clothing for a long time |
| Storage | Storing her on folds of fabric |
