Bikini Lines
This upgrade adds bikini lines to your doll's body. As if she'd been sunbathing in a swimsuit. The lines are painted on at the final production stage, so they can't be washed off afterwards.
How it works
The base skin tone itself stays unchanged. All the light stripes (the swimsuit marks) are applied on top of the doll's material. So, like any paintwork, they can wear away over time. This is especially relevant for TPE: the porous material releases oils that make paint hold less well, and the regular talc treatment and frequent washing gradually lift the top layers. Large, even painted areas like tan lines look particularly untidy when they wear unevenly: the stripes become patchy.
The shape of the "swimsuit" is set by the factory's template. It's usually not possible to choose your own line shape (to match a specific underwear style, for example).
Not for light skin tones
Tan lines only make sense on dolls with darker skin tones. The lines themselves are done in a light tone, and the whole effect relies on the contrast between "tanned" skin and "untanned" areas. On a doll with light skin, there's no contrast, and the lines end up practically invisible. If your doll has a light skin tone, this option is completely pointless.
From our experience, this option is executed unsatisfactorily in the vast majority of cases. Applying an even gradient border for the "tan" onto finished paintwork is difficult, and in practice the lines often end up looking like crudely drawn stripes rather than a natural swimsuit mark. When ordering this option, you should be prepared for repeated changes, and for the possibility that you may not be happy with the final result.
