Nail Colour
Fingernail colour is a free modification available across all brands. Manicures are a detail that's constantly in view. The doll's hands are involved in almost every interaction, and they also appear in most photographs.
How it works
The doll's nails are false plates glued to the nail bed during production. Most brands offer a palette of many different options. You'll find the exact list in the customisation section of the product page.
Nails may come unstuck over time. This most often happens when dressing the doll, when fabric catches on the edge of a nail. For TPE, this happens more often, as the oils TPE releases gradually weaken the glue. This isn't a defect, it's a feature of the construction. A nail is easy to glue back on using special false nail glue.
Don't use superglue or anything similar. It reacts with TPE and damages the material, leaving whitish marks and hardened patches where it makes contact. Use only false nail glue. Before gluing, wipe the nail bed dry and remove any residual talc from it, otherwise the glue won't hold.
How to choose a colour
We recommend a natural colour or a French manicure. These are universal choices that suit any look and any skin tone.
You can change the manicure later on: ordinary false nails from any cosmetics shop will work on the doll.
Either way, try not to deliberately rip off the nails, as this can damage the material of the doll's fingers. If you do decide to re-glue the nails, do it gently, without putting too much strain on the finger material.
Rules that will keep your nails intact
- Put on and take off narrow sleeves carefully, holding the doll's fingers steady. The moment of dressing is the main cause of lost nails.
- Don't lift or pull the doll by the hands: besides the strain on the fingers, this also bends the nail bed and loosens the nails.
- If a nail comes off, put it somewhere safe straight away until you can reattach it. It's difficult to find the exact size and shape to match a lost nail from a shop-bought set.
