Guide "How to Avoid Scammers"
05/02/2024
"Rabid demand breeds rabid growth," fully reflects the situation in the sex doll market. Over the past couple of years, the industry has grown significantly. "Sex doll," in the broad public's understanding, has shifted from "heard something about it" to "definitely know what it is." Nowadays, it's rare to find someone who isn't aware of sex dolls.
Cool? Absolutely. But what always accompanies and will accompany such growth? Right - scammers. Wherever there's hype and demand, villains ready to deceive for profit emerge.
What's the danger of scammers
- They'll sell you a fake sex doll under the guise of an original. And it's not just a scam. Sometimes, it's a health hazard. We've written about this in detail in our extensive article.
- In case of any problems, they won't assist you. Did something break during shipping? Did they fail to include something you ordered in the package? Is the doll not as pictured? Scammers won't help you. They've taken your money, and you'll never hear from them again.
- Some "stores" won't deliver anything at all. They'll just take your money and wave goodbye. Or, in the best case, send you a blow-up doll for £20.
How to buy the original sex doll? How to avoid scammers? And how to do all this without going mad from conspiracy theories - we'll cover this in our detailed guide.
What's important to know
- Scammers are everywhere, in every field, even in medicine there are charlatan doctors. So, don't think that the sex doll market is all a scam. Keep this fact in mind, don't fear it, and learn to identify scammers.
- Scammers are smarter than you might think. But due to market limitations, they all, without exception, I repeat, ALWAYS fit at least one of the points in this guide.
- Practically all dolls are designed and manufactured in China. There are very few exceptions.
- There are hundreds of factories in China (possibly already thousands). And they all produce sex dolls of varying quality, from top models worthy of Madame Tussauds to ones with an uncanny valley effect potent enough to induce a miscarriage in a non-pregnant woman.
- There are only a couple dozen major brands with their unique doll lines, quality materials, and most importantly, reputation and responsibility towards customers. Everything else is either counterfeit or small, almost underground factories with dubious production chains.
What Definitely Not to Do
Do not trust Aliexpress, Amazon, Alibaba, and other such platforms.
99.99% of brands will never list their dolls on such platforms. Brands are initially focused on working with large affiliated vendors. It's simply more profitable - to work with those who bring you thousands of sales a month.
You don't need to maintain a sales department or distract the marketing department to create and maintain traffic. You can fully concentrate on the quality of your dolls and competition with other market players (and there are hundreds of them, as we remember).
If you want to read more about the Aliexpress issue, we have a separate detailed article. You can read it via the link.
Writing directly to suppliers and trying to buy from them
As we've already written above, the main and essentially the only sales channel for them is partner vendors. Therefore, they do not sell their dolls from official websites.
Yes, you might see a catalog, prices, and even a "buy" button on some brands' websites. And you might even be able to purchase a model there! But just compare the prices and ask yourself, why, for example, on the official Irontech Doll website, are the prices for dolls an order of magnitude higher than ours?
Precisely because it is more profitable for them in every sense not to sell themselves but through partners. Manufacturers do not need to take sales away from their vendors, so they either significantly increase the prices on their official websites or do not allow purchases there at all.
Now that you know this information, we can finally move on to the guide itself. Sorry if this was long, but it was truly necessary. So, the guide is below.
Rules for Identifying a Scammer
Rule #1 "The lower the price - the more questions you should have"
A quality, realistic sex doll cannot be cheap due to economic, financial, business, and common sense reasons. It's physically impossible!
What makes up the cost of a sex doll:
- Material. Quality TPE is expensive. Silicone is even more expensive. And that's not enough; a quality sex doll uses a dozen other precursors: oil, antifungal mixtures, deodorants, and so on.
- Work of artists and sculptors. It's possible to cast a sex doll in a basement using a basin, as counterfeit factories do (we've witnessed this and will tell you about it in a separate post someday). However, to create what can truly be called a realistic sex doll, expensive equipment that evenly heats and pours the material into molds is needed. And, importantly, masters who will perfect the cast doll. They add details, the right color, makeup, and other "trifles" without which the doll won't even closely resemble a real person. Many hours of post-production go into each cast doll.
- Electricity, logistics, marketing, and other corporate expenses. Colossal expenses are needed for a factory to function and its products to be known and in demand. Just imagine how much it costs to maintain brand awareness.
If someone offers you a doll from an official brand for 800 - 1000 pounds, it's 100% a fake. Just close that site and never visit it again.
Rule #2 "The price should not be significantly different from other stores"
Every manufacturer has a minimum retail price for dolls. No vendor has the right to set a price below this, otherwise, they lose the opportunity to work with that brand.
Manufacturers do this for two reasons:
- To combat price dumping.
- To force vendors to compete with each other not on price, but on the quality of customer service.
If you see the cost of an "original" doll 500 - 800 pounds lower than at verified stores, rest assured - they are scammers.
Rule #3 "LTD in the UK"
If the seller's company is registered in the UK, it's almost a full guarantee that you won't be cheated. Such a seller is legally accountable and will do everything to fulfill your order flawlessly.
Rule #4 "Customer service is key"
A responsible store not only sells original models, but it also provides excellent customer service.
How to determine quality customer service:
- They respond quickly. You can send an email with a question, and within a couple of hours, a real person will reply.
- Transparent delivery system. A responsible store knows that the main thing is the client's peace of mind. Therefore, it won't make the customer nervous and constantly ask "where's my doll." Such a store will build a transparent and understandable notification system at every stage.
- Transparent return conditions or assistance in case of problems. An official vendor has close and trusting relationships with the brand it works with. Therefore, in case of a problem from the brand's side (manufacturing defect or damage during delivery), such a seller can easily provide you with a doll replacement.
- And the most obvious - such a seller speaks English. Almost every fraudulent site is operated by Chinese. Therefore, they speak accordingly.
Rule #5 "Branding is Important"
If a seller has good design, strong branding, and a lot of original content, it indicates that substantial investments are being made into the company. Always pay attention to the content; a quality seller will have many original photos and videos.
And not only from the factory but also from their office. Unlike a scammer, a quality seller maintains their blog, so when visiting a website, always scroll through the blog. If you see a few articles or a bunch of minor ones, clearly written with AI, just close that site.
Rule #6 "One Doll - One Price"
If you see several dolls with identical photos but different heights and, therefore, different prices on a website, know that you are being misled. Yes, the price depends on the height, that's a fact. But it's impossible to change the height without altering the doll's measurements. Each brand assigns a specific body type to a particular height. Hence, the body shapes at, for example, 150 cm and 152 cm will be entirely different.
If they show you the same photos but with different heights, it's not a website error; you are simply being deceived. Eventually, you'll receive something entirely different from what's in the photos.
As you can see, there aren't too many rules. Scammers always get caught on one of them, but most often - on all at once. So, don't panic. Just follow our guide, buy only from verified sellers, and enjoy only original sex dolls.
