    A model built from scratch to your own photographs costs several times more than a standard doll. A silicone model developed from nothing to an individual design will start at $15,000 and climb from there.

  • Copyright

    A person's appearance is intellectual property. To build a doll based on someone's likeness, you need their permission. Most factories ask for two separate confirmations up front: a notarized document and a video confirmation.

  • No guaranteed result

    Everything depends on the complexity of the project. The more complex it is, the higher the chance the finished doll will not look like the original. And the core problem here is that if the result does not satisfy you, the money you paid for the work will not be refunded.

  • Timeframe

    An order like this involves creating the project, the design and even the molds from scratch, so the doll will take a minimum of six months to build.

Decide what is built from scratch

Decide what exactly you want built from scratch: the head, the body, or both together. Keep in mind that creating a body is far more labor-intensive, which means more time and a larger investment.

Prepare the permissions

If you want to create a copy of a real person, prepare the necessary documents and the video permission from that person.

Gather your references

Put together a detailed description of the doll you have in mind, and gather every photo and video you can, since this is the material the design department will work from.

3D project and mold

Once you have agreed all the details with the factory, the manufacturer starts work on the 3D project and produces a cast from it. After that preliminary version is approved, work begins on the mold, and then on the doll itself.

Approval and shipping

Once the doll is finished, you will be sent photos and video for confirmation. After that, the doll is shipped out to you.

A project like this takes six months on average, so be prepared for a long wait.

As you can see, this is a fairly complicated process, but an entirely achievable one. That said, we will be straight with you:
