Meet FunWest Doll
18/03/2025
The brand officially launched in 2021, starting with the release of several series of TPE dolls right off the bat. This, in itself, is quite telling.
Most new brands, even when launching on outsourced factory capacities rather than their own, typically start with one or two dozen dolls and gradually expand by adding new models. FunWest Doll, however, rolled out 50 models at launch, grouping them into three series.
One of these series, by the way, is no longer available. This was a series of dolls inspired by the TV show "Westworld." As a result, FunWest Doll faced significant backlash (and worse), and they had to remove the series swiftly.
This scale at launch indicates that the brand had substantial funding from the start, allowing the team to invest in quality from the beginning rather than economizing. This financial backing reinforces their core work principle.
Speaking of their core principle, the official website states:
FunWest Doll is here to challenge the notion that TPE dolls can't achieve the exquisite skin texture of silicone models!
In other words, FunWest Doll claims: "We can create TPE dolls that are as realistic and detailed as silicone models."
This is a bold statement, but the live photos shared by both the manufacturer and buyers suggest that it's not just talk.
FunWest Doll has indeed mastered working with TPE to the point where their faces look, at the very least, as good as standard silicone faces.
How do they do it?
That's a trade secret on par with the Coca-Cola recipe. However, here's what they write on the forum:
Every head of FunWest Doll's realistic dolls is hand-finished by a team of artists and sculptors over two days.
This makes sense. Each brand has its own way of "playing" with white oil (or mineral oil, depending on the translation), mixing it into the material in various proportions. With the right composition and under specific humidity and temperature conditions, fine details can be set into freshly cast TPE using heat and tools. While these details might smooth out upon drying, some will remain on the finished surface.
We've abandoned the 'casting' method for heads in favor of 'sculpting.' Therefore, our face creation process is 100% manual.
Honestly, we can't imagine how this is possible unless they have fireproof superhumans whose hands can withstand molten polymer. But that's the brand's statement. We'll consider it part of the unique Chinese marketing that's beyond our comprehension.
What's most encouraging is that they don't claim to have some "COMPLETELY NEW, UNIQUE, ULTRA-SUPER-REALISTIC TPE," as many other companies do, which only appeals to those who are entirely unfamiliar with the topic.
In fact, they straightforwardly state - it's the same TPE, but they've learned to work with it better than others. This honesty and directness, especially from a Chinese brand, is particularly refreshing.
By the way, regarding their TPE
It has almost no smell, even when the doll is brand new. Of course, if a brand is not a basement operation but a major player in the market, even a noticeable smell isn't critical. It's just excess oil releasing. Everything is within "Technical Specifications," and the smell will disappear after the first wash.
But the fact that FunWest Doll can control the polymer/oil balance to such an extent that the initial smell is minimal speaks volumes. At the very least, it shows they are serious about working with TPE.
The main question: is it worth buying?
Firstly, we don't list anything in our catalogue that isn't worth buying. We vet factories, brands, and dolls to ensure our clients don't end up with "masturbators in the shape of sex dolls" at the price of realistic sex dolls.
But even aside from that, the FunWest Doll brand definitely deserves attention, especially for those specifically looking to buy a TPE doll.
So, browse the catalogue, choose a model to your liking, get a consultation and live photos from us.
And buy only quality models.
